5th Sunday Sharing at St. Timothy Lutheran Church

Fellowship happens in the big and little events. Connecting with other through fun and food is enjoyable and for humans, I think, necessary. Celebrations mark milestones. St. Timothy people also forge bonds during the hard times; losing a family member, changing your job, enduring health problems, moving from home, missing friends that move away. |

Food Bank |
St. Tim distributes food, Pantry Style to our neighborhood, to between 25 and 50 people on the first three Fridays of every month. At nine in the morning the first folks arrive at the Hospitality House, where they get a number (by lottery), and share coffee, goodies, fellowship, and sometimes even music as we wait for the arrival of the trucks from the Oregon Food Bank and Franz Bakery. |

5th Sunday Sharing at St. Timothy Lutheran Church |
Our congregation believes that we are called to share the love we have received from God through Jesus whenever we are able. We give ourselves away in love as we follow our Lord. This means that we keep our eyes open to needs in the world that call out to us. Begun in 2001, 5th Sunday Sharing is an intentional extra-mile offering that we take whenever a month has 5 Sundays. Participating is up to each individual. The Church Council designates ministries that will receive the gifts. The Council is always glad for ministry suggestions. There has been an effort to rotate among ministries in diverse settings so that we reach out to local, national and global efforts. 2010 Project Heat Camp Lutherwood Scholarships for our youth 2009 Wells for Africa Camp Lutherwood scholarships for our youth ELCA Hunger Appeal Snow-CAP 2008 Community Warehouse ELCA Disaster Relief: earthquakes and flooding Portland Impact and Transition Project ELCA Hunger Appeal 2007 Namibia through Wartburg Seminary Daybreak Shelter Children of war in Oregon and Pakistan Operation Heat 2006 ELCA Disaster Response for Pakistan earthquake victims and refugees in the Darfur region of Sudan Samoan 7th Day Adventist Food Bank NW Parish Nurse Ministries Chuck Hunt and Good Spirit Ministry 2005 Indian Ocean Tsunami Relief Efforts 50th Anniversary at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Poland Salvation Army for Hurricane Katrina 2004 Portland Lutheran School Lutheran Community Services NW Food Baskets 50th Anniversary at St. Timothy. 2003 Pilgrim Lutheran Church ELCA Disaster Relief: the Midwest Camp Lutherwood Lutheran Church in Poland 2002 Lutheran Community Services NW ELCA Global Missions for Rev.
